What You Missed: Rivalry Week

Big things happened this past weekend as chaos struck college football. I will go through the shakeup of the playoff standings in a later post, but here lets look at the entire landscape of college football, the good, the bad, and the ugly.

The Good

Lets start with the game that had 1,186 yards and 91 points scored, the War on I-4 between UCF and USF. For the first points of the game, we had USF WR Tyre McCants drag LB Chequan Burkett into the end zone.

Who ever designed that t-shirt deserves a raise.

D.J. Moore avoids a 10+ yard loss by flipping the ball over his head. Maryland still loses yards, but a sole highlight in a total beat down by Penn State.

Auburn Punter Aiden Marshall pins his punt at the half yard line.

Kansas State wins the game on a dime as time expires.

Northwestern’s strength and conditioning coach had too much pre-workout before the Wildcats routed Illinois 42-7.

If it ain’t broke don’t fix it I guess. Northwestern is also ranked.

Oklahoma QB Baker Mayfeild was suspended by the coach for the first play of the game this week and was not a captain. His teammates walk to the coin flip as if he died.

Duke won their football game and is going bowling after missing one last year.

It was a perfect ending to rivalry weekend, where Stanford beat Notre Dame in Palo Alto, 38-20. The entire game was fast paced and full of highlights.

The Bad

It got so loud at Jordan-Hare, Alabama’s center had trouble snapping the ball on two consecutive plays pushing Bama out of feild goal range.

Michigan QB John O’Korn misread the post snap coverage and threw the worst pass this holiday weekend.

Not a good start for Mike Leach and Washington State. The Cougars went on to lose 41-14 in the Apple Cup

The Ugly

During the Clemson-South Carolina game, fans started throwing bottles at the Clemson players following a TD by WR Hunter Renfrow, Dabo Swinney spoke out against this and was called for an unsportsmanlike conduct violation. The only unsportsmanlike violation is clearly the drunk students in the Columbia, SC bleachers.

Probably the worst play in football history. Beating out the 94 yard loss that happened.

Then between Iowa State and Kansas State, the worst call in CFB this year. The pass interference is pretty clear.

The flag was picked up and there was a no-call.
