On Sunday, the Big 10 conference crowned Michigan as their champion, and this week, we have a whole week of championships. The ACC starts their conference tournament on today.
Tournament Preview
Virginia is at the top of the ACC at 4 games above 2nd place Duke. Virginia also has the best record in the country and is already looking beyond the ACC and has set its eyes on Final Four and a National Championship. Duke as always is loaded. National enemy, Grayson Allen will be looking to make a statement in his senior season and win a 2nd national championship. Both these teams are primed to make waves. Both teams exited in the second round of the national tournament last year and will be back with a vengeance.
Upsets can happen however. North Carolina has the 4th best offensive efficiency in the country and Clemson has the 7th best defensive efficiency in the country. Louisville, Syracuse and Notre Dame are all bubble teams looking to secure a spot in the tournament. Louisville has no bad losses, but no signature wins. Syracuse always does well in March and beat 3rd seeded Clemson last week. Notre Dame is healthy and has a win over Wichita State.
The ACC can send double digits teams to the tournament so this is a must watch.
Games to Watch
Notre Dame vs. Pittsburgh
The game tips off at 1 pm CST tomorrow. Notre Dame wants to make it to the tournament and live up to its top 25 expectations. A run in this tournament will put them in the 20+ win category. If they win today, Virginia Tech and Duke stand in their way. The Irish lost to both teams but had injuries, but are healthy as ever on the eve of the tournament. The Irish also only lost to Virginia by 5 to end the season. Must watch game today.
Any Game With Duke
We will have to wait till Thursday to watch Duke play. But wouldn’t Grayson Allen losing in Duke’s opening game be glorious to watch? There is a chance of a North Carolina – Duke Semi Final Friday night. A must watch for anybody that loves sports. If Kansas fails to win a game in the Big 12 Tournament, the door is also open for Duke to earn a 1st seed in the national tournament.
