It’s Monday Morning and the weekend went well. Quick recap, first, my city’s AHL team, the Rockford Icehogs, swept the Manitoba Moose to advance to the Western Conference Finals in the Calder Cup on Friday. Next, my 6th grade basketball travel team won a tournament in Kenosha, WI on Saturday. Finally, the Cleveland Cavaliers lost Game 1 of the Eastern Conference finals by 25 to the Boston Celtics. Great, great weekend.
College Football
On Saturday, Pro Football Focus released the returning QB’s in the Big Ten, and honestly, there aren’t a lot.

So who could see similar success next year? Easy answer is Wisconsin’s Alex Hornibrook. Wisconsin returns RB Jonathan Taylor, majority of their offensive line and 3 of their top 5 receivers from last year. However, there is a chance that Penn State’s Trace McSorley does better. He was the better QB last season, but he was flanked by Saquon Barkley, which helped open up the passing game. With a new O-line and a running back, repeated success is unlikely. He still has Juwan Johnson (701 yards and 1 TD) and DeAndre Thompkins (443 yards and 3 TDs) but lost DaeSean Hamilton (857 yards and 9 TDs) and Mike Gesicki (553 yards and 9 TDS), so McSorley will need to find new receivers to throw to. More in depth analysis to come next month as summer practices start and depth charts gets finalized.
NFL
Sticking to the QB news in the NFL. Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck, still has not thrown a football, and the count is nearing 500 days. After getting surgery last year, Luck has yet to throw the ball. This has a lot of implications in the football world. In fantasy news, this makes T.Y. Hilton a shaky draft choice in the first couple rounds. I am a big Hilton fan, but his is streaky without Luck, no pun intended. He is still the clear long ball option for the Colts, but the accuracy of Jacoby Brissett drops Hilton’s stock to the 5th or 6th round. For the front office, the Colts missed the chance to pickup a QB in this year’s class. Luck was supposed to step into the big shoes left by Peyton Manning. But with injuries nagging Luck every year, especially in that shoulder since 2015, the Colts still have yet to find a healthy replacement.
