Michigan State vs. Maryland
Line: Michigan State -3, O/U 46
Maryland beat my Illini last week by 30, but there are too many distractions this week for Maryland to be good. Michigan State is a good team coming off a big win against Purdue last week (How many times have those 9 words been put in the same sentence?) and has too good of a defense to even think about losing this game. Pick: Michigan State -3
#6 Georgia vs. #11 Kentucky
Line: Georgia -9, O/U 44
Georgia shook off the loss against LSU and absolutely put the beat down on Florida last week. Kentucky has one of the best defenses in the country. This game will come down to Georgia’s offense led by QB Jake Fromm vs. Kentucky’s defense led by LB Josh Allen. Georgia is one of the best teams in the country and this game is the defacto SEC East Championship. The winner should play the winner of Alabama and LSU later Saturday night. The playoff push starts this week and Georgia doesn’t pull its foot off the gas. Pick: Georgia -9
#5 Michigan vs. #14 Penn State
Line: Michigan -10.5, O/U
If a historically bad, stagnant Cover 2 Illini defense can keep the game close for 48 minutes, what can the best defense in the nation do against Penn State? Michigan will roll. It’s a big game at the Big House and Penn State will not have an answer for Michigan’s #1 defense. Jim Harbaugh will finally get the win at home he deserves. Pick: Michigan -10.5
#1 Alabama vs. #4 LSU
Line: Alabama -14, O/U 54
This is the biggest line between top 5 teams ever. LSU is rolling at home and it will be loud in Baton Rouge tonight. Alabama and Tua Tagovailoa will be facing the best defense they have faced this year this weekend. This will be a tough fought, low scoring SEC game which I do not see Alabama winning by more than 2 TDs. Take the points and the home dogs. Pick: LSU +14
#10 Washington State vs. California
Line: Wazzu -10, O/U 50
Wazzu cannot be stopped. This isn’t the same Wazzu team that got rolled by Cal in Berkeley last year 37-3 in the infamous Cal fire game. Wazzu’s offense is spotless and Gardner Minshew is having a Heisman caliber year. Cal can play defense, but there is no way they can keep up with Mike Leach’s high powered offense. Pick: Wazzu -10
